A straightforward small-business website starts from $950. If you need something more involved, I’ll work out the cost with you and send a written quote before starting.

I’ve put together a draft to give you an idea of what your website could look like. There’s no obligation to go ahead.
If you’d like to use it, I’ll work with you to finish the site using your own content and photos. The price is worked out in exactly the same way as any other project.

For local businesses such as tradies, clinics, shops, accountants and cafes. You’ll get a website that explains your services, gives people the information they need and makes it easy to contact you.

- Two rounds of changes before launch
- Domain setup, so your website is available at your own web address

- Your domain name registration, which stays in your name and is paid directly to the registrar
- Hosting after launch (see hosting and care below)

- Photography or paid stock images
- Writing all your website content from scratch

If your website needs more than the standard package, I’ll work through the requirements with you and send a quote covering the price, scope and estimated timeframe.
This could include:

Hosting and care
Optional monthly fee, quoted with your project
I can host your website and look after it once it’s live. The monthly cost depends on the site and the support you need, so I’ll spell that out in your quote. You can also choose to manage hosting yourself.
- Website hosting with a secure HTTPS connection
- Monitoring and fixing problems if something breaks
- Small updates, such as changing prices, opening hours or photos
- Someone you can contact directly when you need help
Common questions
How do I get an exact price?
Get in touch and tell me what you need. I’ll ask a few questions if necessary, then send you a written quote. You won’t owe anything until you accept it. The quote will explain the price and payment arrangements.
How long does it take?
It depends on the size of the project and how quickly we can get the content and photos together. I’ll give you an estimated timeframe with your quote and keep you updated along the way.
What happens to my current website?
Your current website stays as it is while I build the new one. Once you’re happy with the new site, I’ll switch your domain over. Email is separate from your website, so your existing email should continue working as normal.
Do I own the website?
Your domain and content remain yours. If you use my hosting and later want to move elsewhere, I’ll hand over your content and help you move the site. You won’t be locked into working with me.
Can I update the site myself?
Yes, if we build it that way. If you want to make your own changes, let me know before we start so I can choose the right setup and include any extra costs in the quote.
I got an email from you with a draft of my site. What’s that about?
Sometimes I build a draft website for a business before getting in touch. It’s a way to show you what your site could look like rather than just describing it. There’s no obligation to go ahead, and finishing the draft costs the same as any other website project. If you’re not interested, just reply and I’ll take it down.
Do you work with businesses outside Christchurch?
Yes. I’m based in Christchurch but work with businesses throughout New Zealand. Most projects can be handled over the phone and by email.
What if something happens to you?
It’s a fair question when you’re working with one person. Your domain stays in your name and your content stays yours. If I ever had to stop running Ripple, I’d help you move your website to another provider rather than leave you to sort it out alone.
