Back to Ripple Monolith

Sculptural sound, cast in one piece.

A single loudspeaker machined from one block of aluminium, wrapped in a hand woven grille, voiced for the room it stands in. One object. No grilles to clip on, no seams to hide.

01 /  The form

One object, turned slowly into view.

Most speakers are a box with a face. Monolith One is a column you can walk around. As you scroll, it turns on the stage and the light moves across it, the same way you would study it in a room. Every face is finished, because every face is seen.

i.

A face with nothing on it

The front is a single uninterrupted plane of woven cloth. The drivers sit behind it, flush, so the eye reads a surface, not a stack of cones.

ii.

Edges you can run a thumb along

Each vertical edge is broken by a fine machined chamfer that catches a thread of light. It is the only ornament, and it is structural, not stuck on.

iii.

It stands, it does not perch

A turned metal base lowers the centre of gravity and decouples the body from the floor, so the column feels planted and the cabinet stays silent.

02 /  The numbers

Measured, not decorated.

Figures that describe the object in front of you. Illustrative of the concept, shown to set the scale of the piece, not as certified results.

1.62m Height Floor to cap. Roughly eye level, by intent.
41kg Mass Solid body. The weight is the cabinet, not the box.
3 Drivers A sealed three way array behind one grille.
1pc Body Machined from a single billet of aluminium.

Figures are illustrative of the concept. Monolith is a fictional brand and these numbers are not certified measurements.

03 /  Materials & craft

Three materials, honestly shown.

The body is metal, the face is cloth, the light is the only finish. Nothing is painted to look like something it is not.

Body

Billet aluminium

Cut from one block, then anodised graphite so the grain stays visible. Heavy, inert, and dead quiet under load.

Face

Woven grille cloth

A tight technical weave stretched over the driver bay. Acoustically open, visually a single uninterrupted plane.

Detail

Molten amber seam

One warm line of light at the base, the single accent on an otherwise monochrome object. A signal that it is on, and nothing more.

04 /  The sound

It should disappear.

The cabinet is sealed and the body is solid, so there is no port to chuff and no panel to ring. What is left is the room, the recording, and a column that gets out of the way.

Low end you feel in the floor, not in the box.

On the bass

Voices sit a foot in front of the cloth, in open air.

On the midrange

Silence between notes that the cabinet never colours.

On the quiet

Price on application. A figure is set per build, never off a shelf.

No payment taken. We will only write about Monolith One. This is a concept and not a live storefront. How your details are used.

You are on the list.

Thank you. Since Monolith is a concept brand, nothing is built and no payment is taken. This is how the real flow would feel.
