Trevor James is a senior weed scientist based at Ruakura who works closely with regional council biosecurity staff, cropping industry and other farm reps and farmers to find solutions to weed problems.
He has been instrumental in gaining funding for a number of research projects which benefit the agricultural sector, and his recent work with the Yellow Bristle Grass Action Group has resulted in findings of an effective selective herbicide for control of this significant weed.
Trevor is regularly called upon by Waikato Regional Council's biosecurity staff for help with weed identification and is always willing to share his time and expertise.
Trevor is co-author of the popular ‘Common Weeds of New Zealand’ book. He is a keen photographer, and often shares his extensive collection of weed photos for the good of the cause, including supplying most of the photographs for this book.
Trevor has also produced 'Ute Guides' for yellow bristle grass and grass weeds of arable crops and is currently working on the production of a grasses of New Zealand book.
